This is how you make an entrance!

Arcana of the Crimson Era Book 1 trailer

Please introduce yourself to cosmicTaryn readers…

My name is Sein Ares. I am the creator of the “Arcana of the Crimson Era” series. Red Moon is my first book. My love for books comes from my mother’s side of the family. My favourite authors include Erle Stanley Gardner, Agatha Christie and many others from their generation.

I am thirty years old and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. After graduating from college, I worked in an MNC for two years. The experience I gained from there allowed me to apply for a more reasonable career at another private firm.
I prefer to spend time reading fiction, watching anime and gaming at home. My goal is to one day be a full-time writer.

When did you first realise you wanted to be a writer?

I always loved story-telling as a child. I grew up and the stories stuck in my head. At first, writing was just a hobby. In 2018, I decided to get more serious about writing and looked into options for publishing.

Tell me about some of the characters in your book.

The story begins with Elizabeth investigating the mysterious events that follow her ascendance as Clan Head. Missing villagers, farms littered with corpses, rumours of similar past occurrences, lead her down a murky path, unaware that she is but a pawn in a more sinister game.

How do you select the names of your characters?

Some, like Leo Aquarius, are names I have been using since childhood for my stories. Others, like Elizabeth Raven, are popular names which I decided to use because they captured the essence of the character I wanted to portray. I use simple tools like a fantasy name generator and a site called, “Family education,” for some other names. The latter has a list of names used by countries all across the world.

If your book were made into a movie, which actors would play your characters?

Oh that’s interesting. I haven’t really thought of it. But Brie Larson or Elizabeth Olson are some of my favourite actresses. For Jenny Raven, Angelina Jolie immediately comes to mind.

What is your schedule like when you’re writing a book?

I write in the weekends but if I am on a crunch situation, I’ll write in the weekdays after work as well. I have a very erratic schedule. I might write for 5-6 hours straight or I might keep to a 15-minute sprint session for two hours each day. It all depends on the flow of the story and my mood.

If you could be mentored by a famous author, who would it be?

Brandon Sanderson is someone who comes to mind. I’ve only started reading a book of his. But I’ve already gotten hooked. Another author I would want to talk with is Sarah J. Maas. Some readers mentioned that my writing resembles hers. I think she might be the best person to teach me about story-telling. Sadly, that never happens in real life. Haha.

Is there an achievement or contribution that you are most proud of?

Publishing my book. When people congratulated me, I didn’t know why. It’s something everyone can do, I thought. I never realised how great a feeling it was until I held the book myself. Tears came out of my eyes before I realised. I’ve led a very uninspiring life, so it was an emotional moment for me.

What are you most curious about in life?

Life itself. The thought of why we do the things we do. Like working, making money, buying a house, getting married and growing old. What happens after that? Do I go back to the earth? Is there nothing left. If so, why did I struggle so much in my life. Couldn’t I have lived for myself? It’s scary. When I was a kid, my mum joked that was how Buddha attained enlightenment and I shouldn’t think too deeply into it. But we have to wonder, don’t we? What is our purpose? What is our truth? I ask this question in my book as well. Although, not this directly.

As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?

Guess I am a cat. I’m always jumpy. I just want to eat, sleep and play, lol.

Off the top of your head, who would you give a shout out to on Twitter?

I have some good friends who helped me with my work. There’s Sam Koumi, Maple Mystery and a few others. Sam definitely deserves a shout out.

Is there a way for your fans to connect with you?

My Social Media Links are listed below if you would like to contact me.

Care to share what you will be working on next?

I’m working on the second book in my Crimson Arcana Series. I’ve finished the first draft and plan to edit it soon. Then comes the beta reading part followed by the editor’s edit and finally the cleanup. Afterwards, I’ll commission some artworks for the story and publish it.

Are you not entertained!? GO GET THIS BOOK ALREADY!

My last two cents…

My readers, please understand that I am beyond myself with excitement for this author. Here’s my review if you don’t believe me. We have a rare gem in our midst and I just cannot control myself. Sorry, not sorry, fangirling so hard!
